What a call at 2 a.m. looks like
You reach a person, not a machine, at any hour. That person takes down your address and what you are seeing, then passes the call to the closest of our 10 Orange County locations; for most Mission Viejo streets, that is our Mission Viejo location. The plumber comes ready to shut things down and begin the repair at your address.
Most after-hours calls here fall into a handful of kinds: a pinhole in the copper under a slab, a supply hose that split when the incoming pressure spiked, sewage backing into a shower because roots have closed the lateral, a water heater leaking in the garage, a gas smell near the meter, or no water at all. Stopping the water or the gas comes first. After that, the plumber shows you the failed part, writes out a price for the fix, and waits for your yes before starting.
The city's housing explains why these calls repeat. Census figures put the median year built at 1979, and more than half of the roughly 34,300 homes went up before 1980. Most of those tract houses were poured on concrete slabs, with the copper supply lines buried beneath the floor, and on hillside streets the pressure coming in can run high enough to wear out a regulator and strain every hose behind it. In condos and townhomes, several units can share one drain stack, so a single blockage can surface in a neighbor's tub. Plenty of repairs are finished in one visit. When a temporary fix is the honest answer for tonight, we say so and quote the permanent repair on its own.
Four things that hold at any hour
- A California C-36 Plumbing license, CSLB #1131308
- A person on the phone 24 hours a day, holidays included
- No repair begins until you approve its written price
- A written workmanship warranty on the work we do
When to call tonight instead of tomorrow
- A warm patch on a tile floor, or water you can hear moving with every tap closed
- A supply hose, angle stop or pipe that has burst or is spraying
- Sewage coming up in a tub, shower or toilet when another fixture drains
- The smell of gas, or of sewer, anywhere inside the house
- A water heater leaking from the tank or banging loudly in the garage
- No water at all from any faucet in the home
You call, a person answers
We confirm the address, ask what you see and hear, and send a plumber from whichever of our locations sits closest to you.
Stopping the water first
The plumber closes the valve that controls the leak, keeps it from spreading, and then traces the water back to its source, whether that is under the slab or behind a wall.
Your price, on paper, first
The repair is priced in writing before a tool touches it, so the decision is yours with the whole number in front of you, at midnight or at noon.
Checked before the plumber leaves
With the repair in place, the water goes back on, each new joint is watched under pressure, and the work area is left dry and clean.
Why Mission Viejo calls us when something breaks at night
We are based in Mission Viejo and answer emergency calls in every part of Orange County. Three habits shape each night call we take.
24-hour emergency response, every day
Every hour of every day, holidays among them, a person answers, and the plumber who comes to your address is sent from our nearest location.
Common parts come with the plumber
Copper, PEX and PVC fittings, shutoff valves and supply hoses come along on each call, so a good share of night repairs are done without a second trip.
The price is settled first
Nothing is cut, opened or replaced until you have read the written price and agreed to it, and that price holds even when the job runs long.
What shapes the cost of an emergency repair
Where the failure is matters most. An angle stop under a vanity is easy to reach. Copper under a concrete slab, which is how most Mission Viejo tract homes from the late 1960s to the 1980s were plumbed, has to be pinpointed first, then reached through the floor or bypassed with a new line run through the walls or attic.
The cause and the material count as well. One pinhole is a smaller job than copper that has thinned along a whole run, and a pressure regulator that failed on a hillside lot may have damaged hoses and valves downstream. A backup from roots in an older sewer lateral needs a camera and a jetter, which a single stopped-up toilet does not. Water heater replacements, repipes, sewer lateral work and gas line repairs also need a City of Mission Viejo permit.
At any hour the rule stays the same: a single written price covering the whole repair, and no work until you say yes.

Ladera Ranch and Coto de Caza
The two unincorporated communities to the south and east, where permits go through the County of Orange and Coto de Caza gate access is arranged before the plumber arrives.

All 34 cities and 5 unincorporated communities are covered, with calls farther out sent from our other locations, among them Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Irvine and Fullerton.
Plain answers
The emergency line never closes, holidays included, and a person answers it instead of a voicemail box that promises to call you back.
Arrival time turns on the distance to your address and on how many other emergencies are underway. You hear what to expect before you hang up, and a plumber is sent from the location closest to you.
A call on a Sunday night is priced the way a Tuesday call is: in writing, before work, with your approval. The hour on the clock does not change how the bill is worked out.
While you wait, close the main shutoff. On many Mission Viejo homes it sits where the water line enters the house, often beside the pressure regulator on an outside wall or in the garage, and the meter box at the curb has a district valve as well. If what you smell is gas, walk everyone out of the house and call SoCalGas from the street before calling us.
Yes. Businesses and multi-unit buildings get 24-hour emergency response just as houses do, from a restaurant along Marguerite Parkway or a store near The Shops at Mission Viejo to a condo building whose units share one drain stack.
